I'm taking a philosophy and careers course, and I am alarmed by the amount of questions that I cannot answer. They are pretty simple questions: what do you want to do after you graduate? Where do you plan to be in five years? What are your career goals? I have fanciful imaginings to these question, but nothing that could be considered a concrete answer. (1) I want to drive back home, still wearing my cap and gown, and dive into the Green River, still wearing my cap and gown. (2) In five years I want to be elsewhere. Preferably, in a place with mountains. (3) My career goal is to work at a place that also provides room and board, like a ranch hand or a steward on a cruise ship. I also think it would be cool to work as a nightguard at a museum or a warehouse. I really think I would do a good job at waving a flashlight around. My only hang up is that some places might require me to carry a pistol, and I don't want to do that. If a criminal wants to break into the museum and steal some priceless jewel, that's their prerogative. My only responsibility should be to ensure there be a cone of light that they must sneak around. Otherwise, the thievery would be too easy.
